On June 12, 2016 a gunman killed 49 people and injured 53 others inside Pulse, an LGBTQ night club in Orlando, Florida on Latin night. As a result of this unprecedented hate crime, vigils were held around the world, including several here in Houston, to show support for the LGBTQ community and call for an end to gun violence.
Houston's LGBTQ Advisory Board was assembled with 49 members in honor of the 49 lives lost in Orlando. Our voices will now speak for those that were lost so that we can work together to ensure full equality for LGBTQ citizens. This board exists in their honor.
